I admire Alex Kendrick because......

Alex Kendrick is living proof that God can use anything and anybody to accomplish His works. Alex Kendrick, is an associate pastor at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia.  Since 1999 he has also become an American film writer, producer, director and actor. He oversees the movie outreach program of the church, which includes Sherwood Pictures, the movie-creating entity that produced, Flywheel (2003), Facing the Giants (2006), Fireproof (2008), andCourageous (2011). He and his brother also wrote two books, The Love Dare and The Resolution for Men, which both were on the The New York Times best seller list.

In the 1990s, Alex Kendrick read a survey that stated films have become more influential than churches. After reading that article Alex was led to try and change the perception of movies in mainstream America.  I'm sure that when he told the other pastors at his church that the Lord wants him to make movies that some thought that his idea was crazy and far fetched. However, he has now proved many people wrong. His second movie "Facing the Giants" grossed over $10 million. The football movie became the best selling Christian DVD of 2007.  His third movie, Fireproof, grossed over $33.5 million, making it the highest-grossing independent film in 2008. His latest movie, "Courageous" was released in theaters in September 2011, and grossed $34.5 million. Both Fireproof and Courageous have also won several awards.

I admire what Alex Kendrick has accomplished with his life. Against all odds and naysayers,  he followed what the Lord told him to do.  I admire his faith and relationship with our Lord.
